You Get What You Get

Mallory has this saying that she learned from her friend Ashley.

"You get what you get and you don't throw a fit."

She tells it to Zach ALL the time .. he doesn't have a clue what she's talking about.

After Mallory got home from school this afternoon, she asked if she could have a popsicle.  I told her she could, so she and Bella went to the freezer to get one.

She pulled out the box and Bella said, "I want a red one."

Mallory then said her famous line, "You get what you get and you don't throw a fit."

Bella said, "That's orange.  I want a red one."

Mallory: "You get what you get and you don't throw a fit."

Then Bella said, "I'm not throwing a fit.  I just want a red one.  You can have this orange one and then I'll have a red one."

Love it.

Lady Bugs

Yesterday (Wednesday) Bella fell asleep on the couch.  I knew when she woke up yesterday morning that it was going to be a "nap day".  She wasn't her cheerful, bubbly self.  Once Mallory was off to school, Grayson went down for a nap and about an hour later, Zach and Bella drifted off as well.  It was a wonderfully quiet afternoon.

When Grayson woke up, he was all smiles (as usual).  I tried to get him to smile for the camera, but he was too interested in trying to eat it.

All the kids got baths last night - I tried to do boys one night and girls the next night, but everyone needed one last night.  Grayson was already in the tub, out and in bed when I took this picture.

Mallory and Bella in their matching jammies.

Last night, after the kids had all been asleep for about an hour, I heard some rustling in Mallory's room.  I went in and found Bella trying to get comfortable again in her bed.  She had woken up and was all nice and sweaty from her flannel sheets and flannel jammies.  I got her all readjusted and cooled down and then as I was walking out she broke down and cried, "I really miss my mommy!"  She buried her face in her pillow and cried and cried for a minute.  I layed down next to her and tried to soothe her.  I told her she only had 4 more sleeps till we got to see mommy and daddy again and then I told her how they were on a boat in the ocean having some time just for them, and how mommys and daddys need time to be alone sometimes, but that they missed her SO much too and they couldn't wait to see her soon.  Then she asked, "What if they don't get off the boat?  What if they stay there forever and forget to come get me!?"  We talked for a while about how they would never forget her and how it's been so much fun to have her play at our house this week.  We talked for a while about all kinds of different things ... to distract her.  I told her that we could go to Target and get her Valentine's for her friends at school the next day and we could buy her a toy or a treat.  She just smiled her big Bella smile and said, "Okay!  You can get me a toy!"  Love that girl.

This morning, while Grayson slept, we searched for Lady Bugs in the front yard.

Bella is so sweet with them.

Zach just tried to squish them.

Love these kids.

Smart Bella

Yesterday (Tuesday) was really busy.  I had New Beginnings for Young Women's in the evening, so my whole day was filled with going to the church, setting up, getting food and the last bits of the program (or any changes) typed up and figured out, and then going back to the church early to get everything ready.  Everything turned out great and it was a successful event, but it just took up my whole day ... and trying to do all that with 4 kids didn't leave any extra time for blogging.

Bella is ONE smart cookie.  I love listening to her talk.  We get to have a lot of one on one time once Mallory goes to school and it's fun playing with her.  (Grayson is usually asleep and Zach likes to play trains in his room.)  We went into Zach's room to see what he was up to and Bella started playing with the sliding door to Zach's closet.  The door swings free from the track because it isn't attached to anything on the floor.  Bella started pulling at it and then she looked at me and said, "Why is this door not stable?"  WHAT?  Did you really just say stable?  I started laughing and asked, "Where did you learn that word?  Do you know what it means?"  Then she said, "Stable is when it doesn't wiggle.  This door wiggles.  Why isn't it stable?"  She is definitely going to go places in her life.  She is way too smart for her age.

Also, monday night, we stopped playing "Musical Beds" and left Grayson's pack n' play in my closet.  Zach sleeps much better in his room and then Bella and Mallory are doing great in their beds, so we decided to try and keep Grayson in our room.  He went to bed at 6:30p and slept till 5.  I gave him a bottle and he went right back to sleep till 7.  Last night, Wesley had to put all the kids to bed while I was at the church and he got Grayson to sleep around 7 or 7:30 and then Grayson slept ALL night until 8:15 this morning!  Can't complain one bit.  He's a great little sleeper and a sweet, happy baby.

Yesterday, Holly and Frank called to check and see how everything was going.  It was SO adorable to see Bella's face light up as she talked to her daddy.  There is something so special about a daddy and his little girl.  I thought she would be sad after she talked to them, missing them and everything, but she was totally fine.  It's been really nice that every once and a while she'll say, "I'm so glad I get to be here at your house!"  We're so glad she is here too!

Full House

This week, I have 4 kids.

I am babysitting my friend, Holly's, two little kids - Isabella (3 1/2) and Grayson (10 mo).  Our kids are all 18 months apart.  4 kids under 5, is .. busy.

I am going to try and blog this week (and post pictures) of all the things we've had going on, so Holly and Frank can see it when they get home.  I kinda envy those with an iphone - cause then I'd be able to do instagram pictures and post them and make this whole process SO much easier.  Wesley .. hint hint!

This post is really just for Holly and Frank.

Yesterday (sunday) was the first full day of having the kids here.  Our church starts at 10:30, which is right in the middle of Grayson's nap.  I was stressing all morning about it.  "Should I put him down early and wake him up for church?  Should I bring an infant carrier for him to sleep in?  Should I just go to Sacrament Meeting and then come home with him and Zach and have them both nap in their beds?"  We got to church, sat down, and Grayson fell asleep in my arms after the sacrament.  Could I be more blessed?  The kids sat quietly and colored and ate their weight in gold fish crackers.  Grayson stayed asleep through almost all of second hour and then was an angel through 3rd hour.  Of course, all the Young Women I get to be with in 3rd hour just adored him and wanted to hold him.  It was so fun.

Bella went to Mallory's class and had a great time.  Mallory told everyone that Bella was her cousin.  After church, we all had lunch and naps.  Mallory and Grayson wouldn't sleep, but Zach slept for 2 hours and we ended up waking Bella up after 5pm so she would go to sleep that night.

Bella is one smart girl and says the funniest things.  She has an incredible imagination and makes up stories and plays with her toys as if they are real.  It is so entertaining to watch her.  Sunday morning, I made eggs and toast for the kids to eat and I put their breakfast on paper plates.  The plates have red and blue circles on them.  Mallory said, "Mom!  Someone drew on my plate!" and then Bella told her, "No, that's just how they are designed."  Then Mallory said, "Designed? Huh?"

Since Grayson didn't want to take an afternoon nap, I put him to bed a little before 6:30 and he slept until 4am, had a bottle, and went back to sleep till 8am.  Can I say Dream Baby?  He is always happy, crawling around all over the house, playing with anything he finds.  I never hear him make a peep unless he's hungry or tired.

This morning (Monday) Bella woke up at 6am to use the bathroom, and then went back to sleep.  Then, when she saw that the sun was up, she decided to wake up Mallory.  Mallory did not like that very much.  She doesn't like being woken up.  We'll have to black out the window some how tonight so we can try and get Bella to sleep longer.

We've been playing "Musical Beds" the past 3 days.  Holly and Frank slept in Mallory's room on Saturday night.  Grayson was in there with his pack n' play.  Bella and Mallory slept in Zach's room with an air matress and Zach's toddler bed.  Zach slept in our room in our bed.  Sunday, I moved Grayson's pack n' play into my closet for a nap .. that he never took.  Mallory and Bella were in Mallory's room (with her trundle bed).  Zach was back in his room in his bed.  Then Sunday night I moved Zach onto a air matress into my room, Grayson in his pack n' play back in Zach's room.  Then today, I moved the pack n' play back into my closet for Grayson to nap, while Zach was playing trains in his room.  I might have Grayson stay in the closet and have Zach stay in his room tonight. But .. who knows.

After I took Mallory and her friend, Ashley, to school this morning I thought, "I need a doughnut."  I never like doughnuts in the morning.  I love them as a dessert after dinner.  We went through the drive thru at Krispy Kremes and got a dozen of their hot and ready original glazed.  Delish.  As we were going to get on the freeway, a newer convertible mustang sped by and Zach said, "Look Mommy!  That's a fast car!"  Then Bella said, "That's cause it's a convertible.  Convertible's go fast.  When it's cold, they keep the top on and when it's warm, they can open it up and go really fast."  I asked Bella how she knew what a convertible was and she said, "My dad told me."

This is going to be a fun week!
